In short
We are currently launching a new and radically sustainable hotel brand:
The Usual. It will be a purpose-led, pan-European chain designed for
sustainability, comfort, and affordability. At this early stage we have three hotels
to rebrand and several more in the final phase of purchase. Our first
hotels will open in 2023. For our head office in The Hague we are looking for
an Intern to support our acquisition projects and the development of our group.

Your role & responsibilities
You will be in charge to assist the Acquisitions team to acquire new
properties across Europe in order to grow The Usual portfolio, and allow us to
become the European leader in sustainable hospitality. You will research
information about hotel markets, analyse data about properties, assist our
analyst with investment models, prepare presentations, perform market
intelligence…and much more!
- Assist the Acquisitions team in collecting and presenting market data for each new acquisition project (demand and supply, existing/future competition, rates…)
- Assist the Acquisitions team in collecting information and reviewing floorplans for prospective buildings (e.g. surfaces, room mix…)
- Support the Acquisitions analyst in updating acquisition models and building financial projections
- Support the Acquisitions analyst in preparing investment memorandums
- Assist the Acquisitions team in keeping track of all projects by updating a detailed project pipeline tracker and organising/saving documents
- Assist the Acquisitions team in identifying target hotels to acquire in high priority cities (by building a database of relevant hotels)
- Gather market data and prepare/update maps for each of the group’s target cities
- Assist the Acquisitions team with one-off market studies
- Possibly travel and visit one or two projects in the Netherlands or Europe
- Possibly support the operational teams with the launching of our first property
- Provide administrative support for the Acquisition team and other departments if needed
Job requirements
Your talents
- Affinity with Hotels and hospitality in general and sustainability specifically
- Analytical and critical mindset
- Rigorous
- Microsoft Office (especially Excel) incl. Microsoft Teams
- Familiar with LinkedIn
- Fluent in English and Dutch
Work schedule
We have a flexible work schedule policy. Within the team’s
requirements, you can pretty much determine your own workweek, with some
minimal presence required at our head office in The Hague.
